Context
Set in a distinctive natural environment where the desert meets the sea, voidXR was invited by Bátiz Casa Productora to create a monumental projection in a canyon defined by the rock formations of the Rancho San Cristóbal venue.
The Artistic Challenge: To design a precise video mapping piece for a wedding celebration that would transform the natural landscape into a living canvas, creating a lasting memory that resonates emotionally and reflects the couple's identity. voidXR selected opposite sides of the canyon to establish two distinct canvases representing duality.
The Technical Challenge: To achieve sharp, accurate projection onto a highly irregular surface outdoors under demanding weather conditions—including intense sun, sand, wind, and humidity—while executing a clean, unobtrusive installation that preserved the view for all guests throughout the event.
“We worked with the natural imperfections of the terrain; instead of trying to conceal them, they became the canvas for the visual narrative.”
The Artistic Concept
The core of the project relied on a profound narrative designed to move beyond conventional wedding visuals. To ensure the work was more than a simple visual display, we created a poetic 8-minute-and-30-second script structured around four symbolic stages. These stages represented the evolution of life and energy, subtly reflecting the couple's union through mythology and nature.
The content was generated using software such as After Effects, Unreal Engine, Blender, LiquiGen, Touch Designer, Adobe Substance, and Cinema 4D.

The Technical Challenge
To ensure a projection with sufficient brightness on the challenging rock surface, voidXR implemented a comprehensive production plan and a highly precise process.
a) Scouting
To ensure maximum precision on such an irregular surface and remote logistical management, the preproduction phase was meticulous. Following preliminary scouting, we determined the optimal locations for the projectors.
We conducted a detailed scan of the rock surface using a drone, which allowed us to generate a high-precision 3D model of the entire venue.
This data was vital, as it allowed us to simulate the projection virtually and calibrate the equipment prior to installation, ensuring the content fit exactly and transforming the natural imperfection of the rock into an aesthetic asset.
b) Technical Specification
A system of the highest quality was used to guarantee a high-caliber visual experience for spectators and overcome adverse environmental conditions:
COMPONENT | SPECIFICATION | |
|---|---|---|
4 Projectors | EPSON L25000 (25,000 lumens). Dual-stack configuration. | |
Optics | ELPLM12 Lenses (1.74-2.35) | |
Server and Software | Media server utilizing Resolume Arena, NDI, and TouchDesigner for reactive content. | |
Show Control | 4 HDBaseT video extender kits and network router. | |
Audio | Audiovisual synchronization system with a live d&b audio system to complete the video mapping experience. | |
c) Development and Implementation
This comprehensive development covered the critical stages of concept, run of show, animatics production, client approval cycles, final content testing, installation, testing, and on-site execution.
The project lifecycle began with conceptualization and planning, which lasted 3 weeks; technical preproduction and audiovisual content creation, which lasted 8 weeks; and a final week of transport, installation, and testing in the week prior to the event. This resulted in a total of 12 weeks.
The logistical complexity was significant, requiring meticulous coordination with Bátiz Casa Productora to effectively manage the transport of equipment from Mexico City to Los Cabos. This coordinated management was essential to prevent any on-site setbacks and achieve an flawless result that met the schedule and projected budget.
The Results
"The video mapping was not just a show; it was the emotional turning point that ensured this wedding will be etched into the memory of the couple, their family, and friends. The memory is now permanent."
The video mapping was the defining moment that elevated the wedding at Rancho San Cristóbal in Los Cabos into a milestone of event production.
For the couple:
This key moment not only met but exceeded the expectations of the clients (the couple, family, and guests), transforming the celebration into an unforgettable occasion. The video mapping became one of the most memorable segments of the celebration, creating a visual and emotional impact that will remain a deep, shared memory.
For the client:
Thanks to the expert coordination between Bátiz Casa Productora, Creato MX, and voidXR, the final result was a fully integrated production. Every detail—from the ambiance, production design, lighting and laser systems, and live band, to the catering and the video mapping enveloping the entire venue—was flawlessly executed.
For Bátiz Casa Productora, the project succeeded in delivering a premium production, consolidating their position in the luxury wedding market in Mexico.
